Artist Statement
Hockey Threads is a one-stop-shop for NHL fans interested in the visuals of the world of hockey. A mix of news around the league, updates on uniforms, a database of jerseys, and a showcase of jersey concepts, Hockey Threads is a prototype website designed to keep hockey jersey enthusiasts up to date on the latest in uniform news, as well as general scoops about the NHL. As a hockey fan as well as an artist, I’ve long been obsessed with the aesthetics of hockey. I’m a part of a large community of hockey jersey collectors (or jersey nerds), and I wanted to create a website that someone like me would like to use.
The two main parts of Hockey Threads are a database of all of the jerseys and logos in use during the 2022-23 NHL season, and a concept page where users can submit and showcase their personal jersey design concepts. These are supported with a uniform news page and league news page, keeping fans informed about the latest happenings in the NHL.
This website represents many of my passions into one, and I wanted to use my experience in UX/UI design and graphic art to create a visually pleasing page that is not only informative, but exciting and engaging.
Above are some wireframes for my website that I created from the early sketches. I wanted to have a home page, a uniform news page, a hockey news page, a database of the logos and uniforms currently in use for every team, and a page for jersey concepts to be posted.
This is some logo work that I did for the site. I threw a ton of sketches of ideas on a piece of paper until I came up with one that I really liked and really embodied the feel of my website, and proceeded to make it in Adobe Illustrator. I thought it looked too plain, so I used the font I used throughout the titles of the website in the logo to match the rest of the brand identity, and reproduced it in a few different colors.
These are screenshots of some of the pages of the website prototype as of December 6th, 2023.

I still plan on making a mobile version, prototype more article pages, and filling out more database pages.
